Description

Earnings from Universal Credit received by the Household, where:

A household consists of one person living alone or a group of people (not necessarily related) living at the same address, who share cooking facilities and share a living room or sitting room or dining area. A household will consist of one or more benefit units.
Universal Credit (UC) is now the primary working age benefit. Most claimants will be of working age, though claimants can be over State Pension age if their partner is still of working age. UC supports those on low incomes with their housing and living costs, as well as child and childcare support where appropriate. It is not just for those who are out of work; it is also for those who are working, but whose earnings are low enough to qualify.

Quality Statement

UC has now completed its nationwide roll-out for new claims, and is available throughout Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

UC replaces all of the following state support: income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Housing Benefit. It replaces the numerous payments these benefits would have given with a single, usually monthly payment, administered by DWP.
